Transfer: Liverpool takes step to sign Isak as Toure completes Man City move
Liverpool have made a club to club approach with Newcastle to discuss a record bid for Swedish striker, Alexander Isak.
However, the Reds will focus on signing Hugo Ekitike from Eintracht Frankfurt If Isak won’t be available.
Football transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano reports that it is up to Newcastle to decide as they never wanted to sell Isak and have offered him a new deal.
Ekitike case remains open as Newcastle sent official bid close to €80m on Monday the Bundesliga side Eintracht Frankfurt want more.
“Liverpool can enter the race… only if Newcastle close the doors to Alexander Isak exit,” Romano wrote on X.
Newcastle themselves are still there pushing for Ekitike but a lot depends on Isak.
Meanwhile, Manchester City have permanently appointed Kolo Toure as Pep Guardiola’s first-team backroom staff.
Romano had earlier reported his imminent arrival in May 2025 and Ivorian signed the contract today.
