Transfer: Last-minute solution for him – Napoli chief on Osimhen
Napoli director, Mauro Meluso, has insisted that it was a ‘last-minute solution’ for Victor Osimhen to join Galatasaray on loan in the summer.
Meluso said this while insisting that the Super Eagles striker is free to leave Napoli for the right price in January, 2025.
Recall that Osimhen made it clear he wished to leave Napoli at the end of last season.
His future was the subject of intense speculation throughout the summer, with Paris Saint-Germain, Chelsea and Al-Ahli linked.
“He no longer wanted to be part of the first-team,” Napoli director Meluso said about Osimhen during the Palermo Football Conference this week.
“He had received an important offer even before I arrived at Napoli, but [Napoli chairman] Aurelio De Laurentiis didn’t consider it because he thought about the club’s good.
“It was a last-minute solution so he would not lose the first three months of the season. We will see in January,” he added.
