Humphry Nijman, the agent of Ajax defender Jorrel Hato, has confirmed that there are negotiations with Chelsea over a possible summer transfer.

The 19-year-old has been strongly linked with the Blues in recent days.

Hato is in demand due to his versatility – he can play both left-back and centre-back.

Speaking with Dutch newspaper, De Telegraaf, Nijman revealed Ajax and Chelsea have begun club-to-club discussions too.

“Yes, it’s true Chelsea have contacted Ajax,” Nijman said.

“The only thing I can say is that Jorrel is now in talks with Chelsea.”

It’s understood Chelsea are ready to pay £44m (€50m), but Ajax are holding out for around £52m (€60m).

Hato has a contract with Ajax until 2028.
