Transfer: Chelsea confirm deal for Veiga, to give Xavi Simons contract until 2031
Chelsea on Friday confirmed that Renato Veiga has left Stamford Bridge for La Liga club Villarreal on a permanent transfer.
The Blues disclosed this in a post via their website, thanking the 22-year-old for his efforts during his time at the Premier League west London club.
Veiga made 18 appearances for Chelsea during the first half of last season.
The defender had joined Chelsea from FC Basel in July 2024.
Meanwhile, in another development, Chelsea are planning a contract until 2031 for RB Leipzig’s Xavi Simons, according to Sky Sports’ Florian Plettenberg.
Both Parties have verbally agreed on personal terms, with written details set to be finalised next week.
Concrete negotiations between Leipzig and Chelsea are scheduled after the Bayern Munich’s Bundesliga clash against Die Roten Bullen on Friday night.
The report added that Chelsea will also need to offloads the likes of Christopher Nkunku and Nicolas Jackson.
