Sky Bet Championship club, Ipswich Town have reached agreement to sign Chuba Akpom from Dutch giants, Ajax, DAILY POST reports.

According to Sky Sports, the deal is a loan with an obligation to buy for £7m if Ipswich Town are promoted to the Premier League.

The Tractors were relegated from the Premier League last season.

The Nigerian-born striker was due to have medicals at Birmingham City on Monday before the move was hijacked by Ipswich Town.

Akpom has been declared surplus to requirements by Ajax.

The 29-year-old spent the second half of last season on loan with French club, Lille.

The Arsenal Academy graduate scored three goals, and registered one assist in 14 league appearances for Lille.
