Title race over – Merson reacts to Arsenal’s 1-1 draw with Man Utd

Arsenal legend Paul Merson has declared that the Premier League title race “is over” following the team’s 1-1 draw at Manchester United on Sunday.

Despite the Gunners’ dominance at Old Trafford, it was United who took the lead, with Bruno Fernandes slamming a free-kick past David Raya just before half-time.

However, Mikel Arteta’s side managed to leave with a point, thanks to Declan Rice’s finish.

The result leaves Arsenal 15 points behind league leaders Liverpool, although they have a game in hand.

Speaking on Sky Sports afterwards, Merson said: “I would say now that Arsenal need to focus on securing a top-four finish in the Premier League. Liverpool are too far ahead.

“They have only lost one game all season. [The title race] is over.”

Arsenal’s next league game will be at home against Chelsea.
