Real Madrid: Valverde differentiates between Alonso, Ancelotti
Real Madrid midfielder, Fede Valverde has differentiated between manager Xabi Alonso and his predecessor, Carlo Ancelotti.
Recall that Alonso replaced Ancelotti as Real Madrid’s new manager some weeks ago after leaving Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen.
Ancelotti had left the Los Blancos to take charge of the head coaching job of the Brazil football national team.
Speaking after helping Real Madrid beat Pachuca 3-1 in the FIFA Club World Cup encounter in Sunday, Valverde offered his opinion on the difference between Alonso and Ancelotti.
“Difference between Ancelotti and Xabi? Xabi asks us midfielders to have more control,” the Uruguay international said (via Madrid Zone).
“He doesn’t want us to drop deep to receive the ball, he wants us between the lines, so that we can turn and drive forward.”
Real Madrid will now face RB Salzburg in their next game in the Club World Cup on Friday.
