Real Madrid: Tchouaméni tells Alonso his preferred position

Real Madrid’s Aurélien Tchouaméni has suggested to new manager Xabi Alonso his preferred position in the Los Blancos’ team.

Tchouaméni plays as a defensive midfielder and also as a centre-back for Real Madrid.

The France international played both positions under former Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti last season.

However, the 25-year-old has now insisted that his preferred position to play under Alonso is midfielder.

Tchouaméni spoke ahead of Real Madrid’s FIFA Club World Cup tie with Pachuca on Sunday night.

“I prefer to play in midfield over centre-back, but I do whatever the team needs, whatever the coach wants,” Tchouaméni said (via Madrid Zone).

He added, “Training under Xabi Alonso is very dynamic and intense.”

Tchouaméni joined Real Madrid from French Ligue 1 club Monaco in 2022.
