President Federation Cup defeat: Enyimba fans demand overhaul of squad, management
Fans of Enyimba Football Club of Aba have called for the overhaul of the team, following the People’s Elephant’s shock loss to Abakaliki FC in Round 16 of the President Federation Cup.
Enyimba on Wednesday succumbed to the NNL side, Abakaliki FC, as two goals scored by Chukwudi Okoro and Daniel Eni eliminated them from the competition.
Reacting to the stunning result, many supporters of the club have called for total overhaul of the former African champions.
According to the fans, the 2024/2025 football season has continued to produce heartbreak for them, as the club have been eliminated from CAF Confederation Cup, President Federation Cup and is presently occupying 9th position in the Nigerian Professional Football League table with only 46 points from 33 matches.
While some of the aggrieved fans are demanding that established stars should be brought in, others are demanding the Enyimba camp should be thrown open for young stars who are hungry for success to be identified and recruited.
Also, some other fans, including Okwuchi Paul and Ejike Agbai, passed a vote of no confidence on the Enyimba management team led by Super Eagles legend, Kanu Nwankwo.
“Now, we are out of every competition this season and that is why we should start planning ahead for the next season,” Agbai said in anger.
