NPFL: Rivers United declare Jackson missing
Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) side, Rivers United have declared Seiyefa Jackson, Absent Without Official Leave (AWOL).
Rivers United made the declaration in a statement on Sunday.
The Pride of Rivers said Jackson had initially claimed to be sick, but investigations by the club’s medical team revealed no evidence of illness.
Despite efforts to verify his claim, the player has since gone into hiding and is no longer responding to communications from the club.
Rivers United stated that Jackson has joined Ojodu City FC without obtaining the necessary clearance or permission from the club for an international tournament abroad.
Part of the statement reads,”Seiyefa Jackson, a product of the club’s Feeders team, had initially claimed to be sick, but investigations by the club’s medical team revealed no evidence of illness.
“Despite efforts to verify his claim, the player has since gone into hiding and is no longer responding to communications from the club,”
“Furthermore, it has come to our attention that Seiyefa Jackson has joined Ojodu City FC, an amateur/academy team, without obtaining the necessary clearance or permission from Rivers United FC. This action constitutes a clear breach of his contractual obligations to the club.
“We have formally reported this matter to the relevant authorities, including the Nigeria Football Federation and the Nigeria Premier Football League, and request their urgent intervention.”
