NNL confirms relegation of eight teams
The Nigeria National League, NNL, has officially confirmed the relegation of eight clubs following the conclusion of the 2024/25 regular season.
The affected clubs are Abakaliki FC, Adamawa United, Zamfara United, Madiba FC, Gateway United, Igbajo United FC, 1472 FC, and Ijele FC.
Chairman of the NNL, George Aluo, stated that the relegations were executed by resolutions reached during the last NNL Congress held in Bauchi.
“At the AGM before the start of the season, it was unanimously agreed that eight teams would be relegated at the end of the season,” Aluo told NNL Media.
“Three from Conference A, three from Conference B, and one each from Conferences C and D.”
Despite the demotion of these teams, the league will retain a total of 36 clubs for the next campaign.
DAILY POST recalls that four clubs—Lobi Stars, Heartland FC, Sunshine Stars, and Akwa United—will compete in the NNL next season, having been relegated from the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).
