Morocco 2025: Flamingos want double over South Africa – Olowookere

Flamingos head coach, Bankole Olowookere, has said his team will leave no room for an upset when they face South Africa this weekend.

Nigeria defeated the Bantwana 3-1 in the first leg of the 2025 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup second-round qualifying tie at the Lucas Moripe Stadium, Pretoria, last Saturday.

Harmony Chidi (brace) and Shakirat Moshood were on target for the West Africans in the game.

The result put the Flamingos in a comfortable position ahead of the second leg in Ikenne on Saturday.

Olowookere claimed his team will go out for another win despite the first-leg advantage.

“We are very much aware of the fact that it is never over until it is over. It will be foolish to assume otherwise. Yes, we won 3-1 away in South Africa, but the contest is still alive. That is our mentality. That has been at the heart of our preparations since we returned from Pretoria,” the gaffer told thenff.com.

“My assistants and I have been working on the team’s mental strength while drumming it into the ears of the girls that focus is key. No loss of concentration is allowed. Our objective is to win on Saturday and make sure of a place in the final qualifying round.”

The winner will confront either Botswana or Algeria in the final qualifying round.

Botswana won the first leg at home 2-1.
