LaLiga: Mbappe overtakes Lewandowski in top scorer race after El Clasico hat-trick
Real Madrid forward, Kylian Mbappe, has overtaken Barcelona’s Robert Lewandowski in the race to be LaLiga’s top scorer this season.
Mbappe’s hat-trick in the 4-3 defeat in El Clasico saw him hit 27 goals.
The Frenchman’s three goals on Sunday saw him leapfrog Lewandowski in the Pichichi standings.
Lewandowski is still searching for the goal that will bring up to a 100 goals for Barca.
The Poland striker has failed to score in the Spanish top-flight since March 30, when he scored a brace in a 4-1 win against Girona.
Lewandowski has missed five games due to a muscle injury he picked up against Celta Vigo last month.
Mbappe on the other hand has broken an all-time record for Madrid.
The French international now holds the record for the most goals scored by a Real Madrid player in his debut season with 39 to his name, breaking the previous record held by the legendary Ivan Zamorano. The Chilean scored 37 goals in 45 games in his debut season (1992-93).
