‘It doesn’t make sense’ – Ronaldo reveals why rejected offers to play at Club World Cup

Manchester United icon, Cristiano Ronaldo, has finally opened up on the reason behind his decision to stay at Al Nassr.

The 40-year-old striker said he was keeping himself fit for the FIFA World Cup next year, and for his club.

Ronaldo said he got offers to play at the ongoing FIFA Club World Cup put decided to stay at Al Nassr.

The Portuguese said he needed to get some rest before the start of another season.

The football goal king spoke after signing a new deal with Al Nassr, adding that it was all about preparing for next season and keeping fit for the FIFA World Cup.

He said as quoted by ESPN, “I had some offers to play [Club] World Cup but I think it didn’t make sense because I prefer to have a good rest, a good preparation, because this season will be very long, because this is the season of the World Cup, at the end of the season.

“So I want to be ready not only for Al Nassr but also for the national team. This is why I want to stay, because I believe in the project.”

Ronaldo’s new deal at Al Nassr will keep him at the club until 2027.
