He was angry with me – Barcelona manager, Flick speaks on clash with Raphinha
Barcelona manager, Hansi Flick has reacted to his brief heated exchange with winger, Raphinha.
Recall that Raphinha had clashed with Flick and also goalkeeper, Marc-Andre ter Stegen after their LaLiga 1-1 draw with Real Betis on Saturday night.
Flick’s side failed to fully capitalise on Real Madrid’s 2-1 defeat to Valencia earlier on Saturday as they were held at home by Betis.
Gavi opened the scoring for Barcelona early in the game but Real Betis restored parity in the 17th minute through Natan.
After the final whistle at the Lluís Companys Olympic Stadium, Raphinha stormed on to the pitch.
The former Leeds United star made his way over to the match officials.
The Brazilian, who was substituted in the 57th minute, was later involved in a brief heated exchange with Flick.
As he headed towards the tunnel, Ter Stegen attempted to put his arm around Raphinha but the winger pushed the goalkeeper away.
When asked about the incident with Raphinha after the game, Flick said at his post-match interview that the 28-year-old was angry with him.
“He was angry with me, not with the referee, he was yelling at me,” Flick said.
Raphinha has been one of Barcelona’s standout performers this season.
He has scored 24 goals and provided 13 assists in all competitions so far for Barcelona.
Raphinha will now hope to lead Barca to victory when they tackle Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League quarter-final on Wednesday.
