Four Nigeria National League clubs in the ongoing Super Eight Promotion Play-Offs have gained promotions to the NPFL.

Their promotions were confirmed at the Stephen Keshi International Stadium, Asaba, and the Southern Delta University Stadium, Ozoro, Delta State.

Wikki Tourists Football Club of Bauchi and Barau Football Club of Kano topped the northern conference to gain promotion, while Warri Wolves Football Club and Kun Khalifat Football Club of Owerri emerged winners from the southern conference to secure promotion tickets to the Nigeria Premier League.

In the last group matches, Wikki Tourists FC defeated Yobe Desert Stars Football Club 4:0 to top the northern conference group with five points, while Barau FC beat Doma United Football Club 2:0 to finish second in the group with the same five points as Wikki Tourists but with a two-goal difference.

In the southern conference, Warri Wolves finished group leader with a 2:1 scoreline to edge out Crown FC, while Kun Khalifat Football Club triumphed over Osun United Football Club by 2:1.

Meanwhile, the Delta State Football Association (DFA) has extended heartfelt congratulations to Warri Wolves Football Club on their successful return to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).

In an official statement, DFA Chairman, Hon. Godwin Adode, lauded the Seasiders’ hard-earned promotion to the elite division and expressed sincere appreciation to the Governor of Delta State, Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, for his unwavering commitment and support, which he said played a pivotal role in the club’s successful campaign.

He described it as a proud moment for Delta State football and a reward for months of hard work, discipline, and resilience by the players, technical crew, and management.

Head Coach of Warri Wolves Football Club, Napoleon Aluma, said they were overwhelmed with joy for the triumph and thanked their fans, the Delta State Government, and residents of Asaba who came in large numbers to cheer them up.

Aluma, who said they were well prepared for the match, commended Warri Wolves players for playing to expectation, giving an assurance that Warri Wolves would do the state proud as they return to the NPFL.

“Today is a special day for all of us. You can see the atmosphere here—we are overwhelmed and overjoyed. It is by faith that we are going back to the NPFL, because that is where we have always belonged. In the two games we have played, we fought with determination and zeal for victory,” Aluma stated.

The DFA emphasized that Warri Wolves’ promotion is not just a victory for the club but a symbol of the steady progress being made in the state’s football ecosystem.

Meanwhile, it was all celebration galore for players of Warri Wolves Football Club as they returned to the NPFL after many years in the NNL following their relegation.

The players, joined by hundreds of their fans, went into jubilation amidst rainfall shortly after their 2:1 victory over their Crown FC rivals.

The match to decide the NNL Super Eight League Champions comes up on Saturday in Asaba, for the 2025/2026 season.

The Delta Football Association pledged continued support for Warri Wolves and other clubs in the state, with the goal of sustaining excellence and building on the momentum of this latest success.
