Florentino Pérez re-elected as Real Madrid president

Florentino Pérez is set to continue as Real Madrid president.

The LaLiga giants began the election process on January 7.

However, an election was not necessary to decide who will lead the club into the future.

According to Marca, Pérez will continue in the role until at least 2029, as he was the only person to put himself forward for the position.

This will be Pérez’s seventh term in the position.

He first became president of Real Madrid in 2000. Since then, he has led the club, except for a short stint between 2006 and 2009.

During Pérez’s tenure, he has only had to run in an election twice, in 2000 and 2004.

Every other election has seen the 77-year-old run for the position uncontested.

Pérez will also become the longest-serving president in the club’s history.
