Figo urges Real Madrid to sign Williams for Alonso

Former Real Madrid star Luis Figo has urged Los Blancos to sign Athletic Bilbao winger Nico Williams this summer.

The Portuguese labeled the 22-year-old as a ‘gem,’ adding that he has quality.

Williams is expected to leave Athletic Bilbao during the current summer transfer window.

The Spain international has been strongly linked with moves away from Bilbao, with Barcelona and Arsenal reportedly interested.

Speaking about which player Real Madrid should sign for their manager, Xabi Alonso, Figo told AS: “There are a lot of players I like. I would definitely sign Nico Williams. He is a gem.

“In the end, the price, considering what clubs are paying today, seems reasonable to me because of his quality and also because of his youth.”

Meanwhile, Real Madrid will have to compete with Arsenal and Barcelona for Williams’ signature.
