FA Cup final: Why Guardiola furiously confronted Crystal Palace’s Henderson after Man City defeat
Crystal Palace goalkeeper, Dean Henderson has suggested why Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola furiously confronted him after both teams’ FA Cup final encounter at the Wembley Stadium on Saturday.
Guardiola was seen angrily shaking his finger at Henderson moments after the final whistle as the two men exchanged words.
Henderson was also seen smiling back at Guardiola in response.
The English goalkeeper played a key role in helping Crystal Palace secure their first ever trophy on Saturday evening.
He saved Omar Marmoush’s penalty after Eberechi Eze’s first half goal for Crystal Palace.
Speaking after the drama, Henderson explained that Guardiola was “disappointed” with Crystal Palace’s attempts to run the clock down during the encounter.
“I went to shake his hand,” Henderson said about Guardiola (via Metro UK)
“I think he was disappointed with the time wasting. I said you got the 10 minutes you wanted. No hard feelings” he added.
Crystal Palace will now shift their attention to the Premier League on Tuesday as they will take on Wolves.
