Europa League: He makes wrong decisions – Paul Scholes slams Man United star despite win

Manchester United legend, Paul Scholes, has criticised the club’s forward, Alejandro Garnacho, following their 4-1 win over Athletic Club in the UEFA Europa League semi-finals second leg on Thursday.

The former England midfielder pointed out a missed chance by the Argentina international in the first half and questioned the winger’s decision-making.

The Red Devils beat Athletic Club 7-1 on aggregate after the two legs of the semi-final and will now play Tottenham Hotspur in the final.

They led the tie 3-0 after a big win against a 10-man Athletic last week.

The Red Devils had a great chance to equalise for Manchester United in the 43rd minute through Alejandro Garnacho after the Spanish side had taken the lead.

The Argentina forward was one-on-one with the goalkeeper but decided to chip him, and the ball went wide of the post.

Scholes who was on TNT Sports said about Garnacho, via Manchester World, “I have never seen Garnacho score a goal like this, he is not the player with that kind of guile.

“With the pace he has got, he should just go around the keeper. We said before the game he gets in brilliant positions, he is great at running through but a lot of the time he makes the wrong decision.”

Garnacho was on the pitch for 63 minutes against Athletic Club and missed one big chance.

He completed 1/3 dribble attempts made 18/20 passes and one key pass, winning 2/4 ground duels, according to Sofascore.

In the first leg, Bruno Fernandes scored a penalty after Dani Vivian was sent off in the 35th minute last night. Brazilian playmaker, Casemiro scored made it 2-0 in the 40th minute before Fernandes added another on the night in the 45th minute.

Mikel Jauregizar had given the visitors the lead in 31st minute in the second leg as they hoped to make a dramatic come back.

But Mason Mount restored parity with a brilliant goal of his own in the 72nd minute.

It was followed by Casemiro in the 79th, Rasmus Hojlund 85th, and Mount again in the 90+1th.

Ruben Amorim’s man will now face Premier League rivals, Tottenham Hotspur, who beat Bodo/Glimt 5-1 on aggregate in their semi-final.
