Europa League: Embarrassing – Scholes disagrees with Merson over comments on Man United
Manchester United legend, Paul Scholes has disagreed with Arsenal legend, Paul Merson’s comments that the Red Devils should hold a parade if they win the Europa League this season.
Scholes insisted that it would be embarrassing for Man United as they have had a poor season in the Premier League.
Recall that Merson had few days ago said on Sky Sports that Man United were arrogant by not planning a parade if they win the Europa League.
“The trophies do not come thick and fast. Man United are a million miles off. Enjoy it (trophies) while you can. For me, it’s a bit of arrogance. I would want a parade,” Merson said.
However, Scholes, in his column for TNT Sports, said: “There’s no way they should have a parade for winning the Europa League, absolutely no chance. I think it would be slightly embarrassing.
“I think the key is the prize of Champions League football next season with a better budget and [chance of] attracting players.”
Man United will take on Tottenham Hotspur in the Europa League final on Wednesday.
