EPL: Van der Sar urges Amorim to give another opportunity to under-fire Man Utd duo
Former Manchester United goalkeeper, Edwin van der Sar wants head coach Ruben Amorim to give Andre Onana and Antony another chance to win back the trust of the Red Devils’ supporters next season.
Antony and Onana were criticized last season for their performances for Amorim’s side last season.
The Brazilian winger left Amorim’s side in the second half of last season to join Real Betis on loan.
Onana, on his part, has made several high-profile mistakes since joining the club from Inter Milan last two years.
The Cameroonian has been linked with a move from the Red Devils as Aston Villa goalkeeper Emi Martinez is been linked with a summer transfer move replace the former Ajax shot-stopper.
However, Van der Sar wants Amorim to bring Antony back to his squad and also continue with Onana as his first-choice goalkeeper next season.
When asked about Man United’s transfer dealings this summer, Van der Sar told The Sun:
“They [Man United] are on the right track [in their transfer dealings this summer],” Van der Sar told The Sun.
“Maybe Garnacho is going to go. I’d say bring Antony back, but I’m not sure if that is realistic,” he said.
Speaking about Onana, the Dutchman continued in a separate interview with talkSPORT, “He’s not been consistent in his performances this year.
“With the qualities he has, he should be able to play for Manchester United, of course, for next season.”
