EPL: Take him – Perry Groves names striker Arsenal should sign
Former Arsenal star, Perry Groves believes his old club should take Galatasaray striker, Victor Osimhen ‘in a heartbeat’ if the opportunity arose before the January transfer window closes.
Arsenal decided against signing a top striker with proven goalscoring record last summer.
Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta, opted to put his trust in Kai Havertz after the Germany international’s success as a false No.9 towards the end of last season.
But calls from Arsenal supporters have intensified this month for the Premier League North London club to bring in a top striker following Gabriel Jesus’ recent season-ending injury.
Arteta’s side have been linked with Osimhen, Newcastle United’s Alexander Isak, RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko and Sporting CP’s Viktor Gyokeres.
Asked whether he would take Osimhen at Arsenal, Groves told talkSPORT: “In a heartbeat. You’ve got Gyokeres, obviously, they are talking about Isak.
“You ain’t going to get Isak because Newcastle have now had their bad result at the weekend, they are still looking to get into the Champions League so you ain’t getting Isak.
“If it means you pay over the odds or even if you take a player on loan, any centre-forward at the top level… you would be licking your lips thinking you could make a massive difference to that Arsenal side.”
Osimhen is currently on loan at Galatasaray from Serie A side Napoli.
