EPL: Paul Merson kicks against Arsenal signing Madueke

Paul Merson, former Arsenal star, has criticised the club’s decision to sign attacker Noni Madueke from Chelsea.

Merson insisted that Madueke isn’t clinical in front of goal, adding that he’s flabbergasted by the Gunners’ decision.

Madueke is joining Chelsea’s London rivals, Arsenal, in this summer transfer window after reaching an agreement with the Blues.

“I’m flabbergasted by Arsenal signing of Noni Madueke. I am shocked,” Merson told Sky Sports.

“I just don’t see it. It’s a lot of money for a player who isn’t a prolific goalscorer.

“He’s the sort of player that has a good game here and a good game there, but that’ll be it. The consistency of performance isn’t there,” he stated.
