EPL: Martinelli speaks on Arsenal trying to sign Nico Williams

Arsenal winger, Gabriel Martinelli, has reacted to speculation that the Premier League club is looking to sign Nico Williams from Athletic Club.

Gunners boss, Mikel Arteta, wants to bolster his squad with at least two new forwards in the summer.

If the transfer eventually happens, Williams, who prefers to play from the left side of the attack, will become a direct competitor for Martinelli in Arteta’s starting lineup next season.

However, Martinelli has insisted he is ready for the challenge of competing with the Spaniard.

He told reporters: “We play for Arsenal – it’s a competition every day.

“The club wants to have the best players in the world, because it is one of the biggest in the world as well. We are used to it.

“We are a big club. We need to have the best players. I will be really happy when we have big players coming to the team.”
