EPL: He plays different positions – Guardiola wants Man City midfielder not to leave club
Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola wants utility player, James McAtee not to leave the club at the end of the season.
McAtee has been linked with a move away from Manchester City this summer.
The 22-year-old was on target in Man City’s 5-2 over Crystal Palace last weekend.
Speaking at his pre-match press conference ahead of Man City’s Premier League tie with Everton on Saturday, Guardiola said he wants the midfielder to remain Etihad next season.
The Spaniard insisted that McAtee trains really good and can play in different positions.
“For the age, I’d like McAtee to stay next season,” Guardiola said.
“I understand players want more minutes. I’d like him to stay, he is an Academy player, knows the patterns, a lovely person, lovely guy.
“He trains really good, plays different positions”.
McAtee, who joined Man City’s academy in 2013, had spent time on loan at Sheffield United in the past.
