Former Manchester United defender, Gabriel Heinze, is set to join Mikel Arteta’s coaching staff at Arsenal.

The Athletic reports that Heinze will replace Carlos Cuesta at the Emirates.

Cuesta has left the Gunners to become Parma’s new head coach.

Arteta knows Heinze from their time together at Paris Saint-Germain during the 2001-02 campaign.

The 47-year-old has gone on to work as a coach at Godoy Cruz, Atlanta United and Newell’s Old Boys.

His last head coach role was at Newell’s. He left his boyhood club in November 2023 after only one year.

Heinze will join Arteta’s coaching staff team that already includes assistant Albert Stuivenberg, set-piece coach Nico Jover, and goalkeeping coach Inaki Cana.
