EPL: Amorim wants to sell half of Man Utd squad – Rio Ferdinand
Former Manchester United defender, Rio Ferdinand, has claimed that manager Ruben Amorim is looking to get rid of up to 50 per cent of the current squad.
The Red Devils’ poor season in the Premier League continued on Sunday, with a 2-0 home defeat by West Ham.
The result left Amorim’s team rooted to 16th in the standings.
Under the Portuguese tactician, United have won only six of 25 league matches. Their last victory came against relegated Leicester City on March 16.
Ferdinand has now claimed that Amorim would love to cut about half of the current roster.
He also said Amorim needs at least two transfer windows to build a squad which can carry out his vision.
“I think he looks around the dressing room and thinks “If I could wave a magic wand, in the next five years at least 50 per cent of this team wouldn’t be here”,’ he said on Rio Presents.
“Because they’re not good enough and they’re not right for the way he wants to play.”
