Liverpool midfielder, Mac Allister wrote on Instagram: “I can’t believe it. I will always remember your smiles, your anger, your intelligence, your companionship, and everything that made you as a person. It hurts a lot, we are going to miss you.

“Rest in peace, dear Diogo.”

On his part, Inter Miami captain Lionel Messi wrote on his Instagram story: “Rest in peace,” alongside a picture of Jota.
