Diogo Jota: Liverpool to immortalise No. 20 shirt

Liverpool on Thursday announced that the number 20 shirt will be immortalised as a sign of respect to their late forward Diogo Jota.

Liverpool disclosed this in a post via their website on Thursday.

Recall that Jota passed away at the age of 28 following a car crash in Spain that also claimed the life of his brother, Andre Silva.

However, according to Liverpool, the No.20 jersey will be rightly immortalised for Jota’s contributions to Liverpool winning the 2024–2025 Premier League title.

Recall that the Reds won their 20th English top-flight league title last season.

Interestingly, Jota’s trademark shimmy strike sealed victory in April’s Merseyside derby—a poignant last goal of his life.

Jota left behind his wife, Rute, and their three children.
