CWC: I saw Maresca pushing people – Enrique explains on-pitch brawl after Chelsea beat PSG

Paris Saint-Germain manager, Luis Enrique has commented on the clash that happened following his side’s Club World Cup final defeat to Chelsea on Sunday.

Recall that goals from Cole Palmer and Joao Pedro ensured the Blues defeated PSG 3-0.

Following the game at the MetLife Stadium, Pedro, clashed with PSG goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma as Enrique was also involved in the on-pitch brawl.

Erinque then appeared to strike Pedro, sending the Chelsea attacker falling to the floor.

Speaking on the development, Erinque insisted that his intention was to stop players from fighting, adding that he also saw Chelsea manager pushing people.

“My only intention was to stop the players from fighting, It was an avoidable situation, I’m sure. There were a lot of pushes,” Enrique said at his post-match interview.

“I saw Maresca receiving pushes and pushing people too! Clearly our intention was to stop the players.

“Like I said, I was trying to stop my players. There was a lot of tension, and there was a lot of pushing. It was an avoidable situation, logically. I have nothing else to say.”
