Conference League final: Why Chelsea defeat Real Betis 4-1 – Isco
Real Betis playmaker, Isco, has admitted that they failed to convert their first-half domination over Chelsea into goals in the Europa Conference League final on Wednesday.
Speaking after a 4-1 defeat to the Blues in Poland, Isco said they paid the price for taking their foot off the pedal.
The LaLiga side took an early through Abde Ezzalzouli in the first half, but they failed to add more goals.
Betis were taken apart in the second half, as Chelsea scored four times through Enzo Fernández, Nicolas Jackson, Jadon Sancho and Moisés Caicedo.
“We had a good first half where they barely had any chances,” Isco said.
“We had it close and we didn’t know how to take advantage of the score, something that has penalised us all season. In a European final, mistakes are very punishing.
“In the second half, they ran over us. It’s painful.”
