Club World Cup: Why PSG lost 1-0 to Botafogo – Luis Enrique
Paris Saint-Germain manager, Luis Enrique, has claimed every team is motivated when they play against them.
Enrique stated this following his side’s shock 1-0 defeat to Botafogo on Thursday night at the Club World Cup.
The loss ended their unbeaten run in any competition since May 3.
Igor Jesus scored the winner in the 36th minute of the match, controlling a long pass and squeezing the ball past Gianluigi Donnaruma.
PSG dominated the game, finishing with 16 shot attempts to Botafogo’s four, but all four were on target, whereas PSG only got two on net.
“Every team is motivated, especially against our team,” Enrique said.
“Our team struggled against their defense.
“I think Botafogo is one of the toughest defensive teams in the tournament.
“Being a great team, playing together, all the guys defending, all the guys attacking, and that’s the big secret of this PSG team, that’s why they compete and win.”
