Atletico Madrid manager, Diego Simeone has suggested why his team got knocked out from the FIFA Club World Cup.

Simeone watched as Atletico Madrid defeated Botafogo 1-0 in Group B encounter on Monday.

But Simeone’s failed to progress to the Round of 16 due to goal difference despite recording six points.

The likes of Botafogo and Paris Saint-Germain advanced to the last-16 after finishing in the top two positions in the group.

However, speaking at his post-match interview, Simeone suggested that Atletico Madrid were placed in the most difficult group at the tournament.

The Argentine said: “People will say that we got knocked out, but it was the most difficult group, and we are out on goal difference.

“We are used to this. We have Barcelona and Real Madrid in La Liga and we always qualify for the Champions League.”

He added, “We had a difficult group, with the winners of the Champions League and the Libertadores. And we had the same points as them… But yes, we are calm. We know what we have to improve on.”
