Club World Cup: PSG suffer shock defeat to Botafogo

Igor Jesus scored the winner as Botafogo stunned Champions League winner Paris Saint-Germain 1-0 on Thursday night in the Club World Cup.

PSG have been unbeaten in any competition since May 3.

But the Ligue 1 giants failed to make their dominance count against the South American champions.

Luis Enrqiue’s men recorded a stunning 4-0 win over Atletico Madrid in their first group game.

PSG were without Ousmane Demebele, but were superior in possession to Botafogo.

They finished the game with 16 shot attempts to Botafogo’s four, but all four were on target, whereas PSG only got two on net.

The decisive moment came just before the break, when Jesus controlled Jefferson Savarino’s long pass, outmaneuvered two defenders and thumped a shot past Gianluigi Donnarumma.

Botafogo now sit top of the group with six points.
