Club World Cup 2025: Real Madrid fail to beat Al Hilal in first fixture
Real Madrid were held to a 1-1 draw by Al Hilal in their first fixture at the 2025 Club World Cup on Wednesday night.
The Saudi Arabian champions began the game on the front foot and threatened to take the lead.
But it was Madrid who scored first, with Gonzalo Garcia finishing off a fine team move.
Al-Hilal were level before the break from the penalty spot.
Raul Asencio was slack on the ball and ended up pulling the shirt of Marcos Leonardo, giving the referee no choice but to point to the spot.
Former Wolves midfielder, Ruben Neves, stepped up and sent Thibaut Courtois the wrong way.
Xabi Alonso’s men had the chance to take three points after they were awarded a penalty, but Federico Valverde saw his effort palmed away by Bono.
