FIFA have confirmed that Chelsea striker, Nicolas Jackson, will serve a two-game ban over the red card he picked up against Flamengo at the Club World Cup.

It was Jackson’s second sending off in four games for the Blues.

Jackson was dismissed only minutes after he came on in the second half of their 3-1 defeat to the Brazilian side.

“The FIFA Disciplinary Committee has imposed the following sanction on Chelsea’s player Nicolas Jackson who was sent off as a result of a direct red card during the FIFA Club World Cup 2025 match between his team and CR Flamengo at Lincoln Financial Field, Philadelphia, on 20 June 2025…” FIFA said in a statement.

“2-match suspension for breach under article 14 paragraph 1 e) of the FIFA Disciplinary Code. This decision is final and binding and cannot be appealed.”

Jackson took to social media to apologised for his actions after the match.

In his absence, Chelsea thrashed Esperance 3-0 in their last group fixture, to qualify for the Round of 16 where they will face Benfica.
