Club World Cup 2025: 15 teams eliminated from tournament

At least 15 teams have been eliminated from the ongoing FIFA Club World Cup in the United States.

This follows the conclusion of Wednesday and Thursday’s early hours group stage fixtures.

Mamelodi Sundowns and Rivers Plate are the latest teams to exit the tournament after their final Group stage matches.

Mamelodi Sundowns played a 0-0 draw with Fluminense to finish in third place in Group F.

The South African club had needed a win against Fluminense to qualify for the Round of 16.

Rivers Plate, on the other hand, lost 2-0 against Inter Milan to finish in third position in Group E.

The Argentina club had needed a win against the Serie A side to progress to the knockout stage.

The other teams that have been eliminated from the competition are: Al Ahly, Los Angeles FC, Auckland City, Pachuca, Ulsan HD, Urawa Red Diamonds, Esperance and Boca Juniors.

Others include: FC Porto, Al Ain, Wydad AC, Atletico Madrid and Seattle Sounders.
