Semi Ajayi returned to action for West Bromwich Albion in the Premier League 2 victory over Newcastle United on Monday night.

Ajayi played the entirety of the first half as he build up his fitness.

The Nigeria international was sidelined for around four months with injury.

The centre-back sustained a hamstring injury in the first half of the Baggies Sky Bet Championship clash with Cardiff City last October.

Ajayi is expected to return to full action in the next two weeks.

His recovery will also be a sweet music to the ears of Nigeria head coach, Eric Chelle ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers in March.

He is expected to be included in Super Eagles squad for the games against Rwanda and Zimbabwe.
