Ballon d’Or: Marcelo names player to win award
Real Madrid legend, Marcelo, has picked his choice on which player to win the 2025 Ballon d’Or.
The Brazilian spoke after a Real Madrid legends game against Borussia Dortmund legends on Saturday.
Real Madrid legends played a 3-3 draw against their Dortmund counterpart in the charity game.
The likes of Baptista, Kroos and Raul all scored for the Real Madrid legends.
Speaking after the game, the former left-back was asked who he think should win the Ballon d’Or.
“Who should win the Ballon d’Or? Cristiano Ronaldo,” Marcelo simply replied as quoted by Madrid Zone.
Ronaldo scored 25 goals last season to emerge as the top scorer in the Saudi Pro League once again.
The Portugal captain is on his way to winning another Nations League title, after leading Portugal to the final, where they will face Spain.
However, Ronaldo is not in the running for the Ballon d’Or this year, as Marcelo is well aware.
The likes of Barcelona’s Lamine Yamal, Paris Saint-Germain’s Ousmane Dembele, Real Madrid’s Kylian Mbappe and Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah are among contenders for the award.
Meanwhile, Ronaldo recently said that the Ballon d’Or should be given to a player from the team who won the Champions League.
