Ballon d’Or 2025: He never fails – Torres picks player that deserves to win award
Barcelona striker Ferran Torres has picked the player he believes deserves to win the 2025 Ballon d’Or award.
In a recent interview with Mundo Deportivo, Torres said his Barcelona teammate Pedri should be awarded football’s most prestigious individual prize because “he never fails.”
Pedri has been instrumental in Barcelona’s strong form this season in La Liga.
Speaking about the midfielder’s importance to the team, Torres said:
“Well, I am not surprised because I have never had any doubts about him [Pedri]. I think he is a different player.
He is proving it this year, but we’ve seen it in previous years as well. I think we have not seen the best of Pedri yet; he can still give much more.
I mean that he needs to play every game now, and in every game, he performs at a spectacular level.
That is what Pedri is all about: he never fails. He is there whenever you need him, and he is there whenever you don’t.”
Torres then added that Pedri would be Barcelona’s candidate for the Ballon d’Or and explained why the 22-year-old is worthy of winning the award.
“Yes, I think they should give it [2025 Ballon d’Or] to him because the level he’s showing is something out of the ordinary,” Torres, a former Manchester City star, added.
