Former Barcelona player, David Villa has backed Lamine Yamal to win the Ballon d’Or award.

The former Spain internnational believes the 17-year-old deserves the Ballon d’Or because he has done well for Barcelona this season.

Speaking at a public appearance, Villa said of Yamal (via Barca Universal): “We will see, I think he has done well.

“There is still a few weeks left in the season and you know it is an award that I have never really believed in them.

“He will win it one day, for sure.”

Yamal is definitely among favourites to win the Ballon d’Or this year due to his performances for the Catalan club this term.

The winger has been impressive for Hansi Flick’s side so far this season and also already won the Copa del Rey with Barca.
