Manchester City head coach, Pep Guardiola has criticized his players after their 4-3 defeat to Al Hilal in the Club World Cup Round of 16 encounter at the Camping World Stadium.

The Spaniard insisted that his players were open when Al Hilal launched a counter-attack, adding that the Saudi Super Lig club have quick players.

Recall that Bernardo Silva, Erling Haaland, Marcos Leonardo and Malcom all scored as the game ended in a 2-2 draw after 90 minutes.

In the extra time, Kalidou Koulibaly and Leonardo scored to give Simone Inzaghi’s side the victory as Phil Foden’s goal was not enough for City.

Speaking at his post-match interview, Guardiola said: “We were so open.

“When the crosses arrived, in the first action, they had the ability to pass the ball and attack and they’ve quick players.

“We created a lot and had a lot of chances against a team that defend so deep. They punished us on the transitions.”
