2026 WCQ: We will qualify with victory over Nigeria – South Africa coach, Broos

The head coach of South Africa, Hugo Broos, has said they can confirm their qualification for the 2026 World Cup, if they beat Nigeria next week.

Bafana Bafana are now in a prime position to book their spot, after they thrashed Lesotho 3-0 on Friday.

The result means they now have 16 points, nine clear of the Super Eagles, who host Rwanda on Saturday.

South Africa could confirm qualification for next year’s tournament with a win against Eric Chelle’s men.

But Broos’ men would need both Benin Republic and Rwanda to drop points.

“If God is with us, then we can maybe qualify for the World Cup by next Tuesday, and that stays as the target for us,” Broos tokd reporters.

“We are in a good situation, we have everything in our own hands, so it’s up to us to now finish it.”
