Wike Will Destroy PDP If Unchecked, Ex-Nat’l Auditor Warns

A former National Auditor of the Peoples Democratic Party, Chief Ray Nnaji, Thursday, said the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Mr Nyesome Wike, “is a PDP spoiler and will destroy it if something proactive is not taken by the party’s hierarchy”.

Chief Nnaji, who spoke in Enugu, said Wike, a former governor of River State, is the first political figure he knew that belongs to two political parties and remains unpunished.

According to him, “Wike championed zoning of PDP’s presidential ticket to the South ahead of the 2023 polls but refused to micro-zone it to South East.

“That was how he misled five governors in the name of G-5. PDP lost the presidential election because of Wike’s infractions.

“Wike made it clear that he worked for the APC during that election. He wants the PDP decimated; at the same time, he still believes that he is still a member of the PDP.

“Wike is a spoiler. He wants to control the structure of the PDP to weaken the party in the 2027 general elections, to the benefit of APC. He earlier made it clear that he won’t contest against President Bola Tinubu in 2027.”

Nnaji said PDP is not serious about addressing the Wike matter, adding that such portends doom for the party.

According to him, “The acting National Chairman of PDP is a Wike stooge. When Chief Iyorcha Ayu left as PDP national chairman, the constitution stated that his replacement should come from the same zone. It is therefore for the zone to insist that the rule be complied with.

“Wike’s funding of PDP was a factor. Many past governors, when Wike was still serving as governor, left Wike to foot the bills of PDP.

“That made him control the party. Despite all his excesses, there is no petition against Wike at the PDP’s Disciplinary Committee.

“If nothing is done urgently against Wike, it will be a big problem for the PDP.

“This is the time Atiku Abubakar needs to step in and ensure that the PDP structure is reorganised.”
