South-East APC Supporters Accuse ADC Of ‘Dangerous Distraction’ Against Tinubu

South-East Tinubu supporters have criticised the African Democratic Congress (ADC), describing the party’s ongoing campaign as a “dangerous distraction” from Nigeria’s real development needs ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

The supporters who operate under the Tinubu Support Organisation (TSO) said an early campaign is capable of derailing the programmes of the President Bola Tinubu as it’s not yet time for the 2027 election campaign.

Speaking during an interview on ARISE NEWS on Friday, the head of the group, George Agbakahi said, “In ADC, you see the publicity secretary, Mr. Abdullahi, campaigning both on social media, on electronic media, on print media, campaigning almost on a daily basis.

“There has been no official campaigning from either the party or the presidency in APC,” he pointed out.

This is contrary to what ADC had said when the party on several occasions accused the ruling party of abandoning governance and starting a campaign too early.

A few days ago, the ADC through its spokesman, Bolaji Abdullahi slammed the APC for starting a campaign for Tinubu’s reelection bid while abandoning Nigerians to suffer.

But Tinubu supporters in the South-East disagree with Agbakahi arguing that, “These are all different organizations. They are people that are supporting the APC,” when pressed on Friday regarding the accusations levelled against the APC.

He added, “You know, and based on freedom of expression, they all have the right to support who they want to support. But I’m talking about the main piece of ADC is always campaigning.”

Agbakahi also accused opposition parties of lacking vision and agenda, stating, “All we are hearing from [the] African Democratic Congress is just abusing the current administration.

“There is no vision. There is no policy. There is no agenda. I think what we see is like old wine in a new bottle. All of them in the African Democratic Congress are about the same.”

He emphasised the APC’s commitment to progress and the welfare of Nigerians.

He stressed that the APC under President Bola Tinubu had taken significant steps to improve the welfare of Nigerians, noting that inflation had reduced from about 40.50 percent when Tinubu took office to 22.22 percent.

He said a lot was being done to address the country’s economic challenges.

Highlighting ongoing projects in the South East, Agbakahi said almost all major roads in the region were currently under construction.

He cited the Enugu–Onitsha Road, which he claimed had been neglected by previous administrations, the Enugu–Port Harcourt Road, and the Aba–Ikot Ekpene Road, which he said was being worked on for the first time in almost two decades.

He added that the Southeast Development Commission had been allocated ₦150bn to drive economic growth in the region, describing it as proof of the president’s commitment to the zone.

Agbakahi warned against political distractions that undermine the country’s unity and progress.

“If anybody talks about a parallel government, me, I think they should be rebuked and condemned,” he said.
