The Action Democratic Party (ADP) Chairmanship candidate for Port Harcourt City LGA, Owuru Kenneth Nyeche, has pledged to restore the city to its former glory and reposition it as the “Garden City” of Nigeria.

Speaking during a campaign rally held in Port Harcourt on Saturday, Nyeche said his administration, if elected, would embark on a comprehensive Green Initiative aimed at restoring the city’s natural beauty, boosting sanitation, and encouraging sustainable development.

“I will restore Port Harcourt to its former glory. This city is proudly called the Garden City, under my leadership, it will return to that name. We will begin a Green Initiative that will encourage cleanliness, plant more trees, beautify our streets, and keep our environment safe and healthy. A clean city will attract investors, encourage businesses, and create opportunities for our young people,” he declared.

He further noted that his government would prioritize waste management, drainage systems, and urban renewal projects to combat flooding, reduce pollution, and make Port Harcourt more livable.

“We cannot talk about a great city when refuse litters our streets and when businesses struggle under poor infrastructure. My administration will work hand in hand with residents, community leaders, and entrepreneurs to create a modern, clean, and vibrant Port Harcourt that works for everyone,” Nyeche assured.

The ADP candidate Owuru Kenneth also highlighted plans to support local entrepreneurs, create jobs, and improve security, stressing that economic growth thrives in an environment that is clean, green, and secure.

The campaign rally, which held across major streets and markets in Port Harcourt, witnessed a massive turnout of supporters who welcomed Nyeche and the ADP campaign team with chants of solidarity, signaling growing acceptance of the party’s message of change and renewal.

The Rivers State Local Government Elections is scheduled to gold on 30th August, 2025.
