Governor Alex Otti of Abia State has extended a glowing birthday tribute to the former Governor of Anambra State and Labour Party presidential candidate in the 2023 general election, Mr. Peter Gregory Obi, CON, as he marks his 64th birthday.

In a message personally signed by the Governor on Saturday, July 19, 2025, Otti described Obi as “a brother and friend” whose life has remained an embodiment of “compassion, integrity, and progress.

“Today, we celebrate not just a birthday, but a life that has consistently echoed the values of compassion, integrity, and progress,” the message began”.

Governor Otti praised Obi for redefining leadership in Nigeria through an approach rooted in selfless service, visionary action, and unwavering dedication to the principles of nation-building.

“Mr. Peter Obi has proven time and again that leadership is not just about power but service. His enduring commitment to national development and humanitarian causes continues to inspire and uplift many lives,” Otti noted.

Highlighting Obi’s far-reaching influence across sectors, Otti stated that “from classrooms to boardrooms, communities to hospitals, his influence is felt in every space where equity and growth are sought.”

He further commended the former Anambra governor’s consistency, noting that “his example reminds us that true leadership is not just spoken but lived. And in every stride, Mr. Obi has shown that he is who he says he is.”

The Abia Governor, who ran on the same Labour Party platform as Peter Obi in the 2023 elections, also commended Obi’s personal attributes — discipline, humility, and a relentless pursuit of a better Nigeria — which he said continue to serve as a compass for emerging leaders.

“We continue to learn from his discipline, humility, and relentless pursuit of a better society. Through him, we see what it means to lead with heart and serve with vision.

“This is wishing you more fruitful years in good health, wisdom, and God’s endless blessings. Congratulations, Okwute!” Otti concluded.
