No Single Party Can Unseat Tinubu In 2027, Says Ondo PDP Chairman

The Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ondo State, Mr Modupe Aisida, has called on opposition parties to form an alliance with PDP in order to unseat President Bola Tinubu in 2027.

Aisida, on Thursday in Akure, said no single political party can defeat Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.

He explained that the President, who is well-rooted in politics, has the advantage of the paraphernalia of office to achieve his reelection, hence the need for party alliance that would challenge him vigorously.

“Tinubu is the incumbent President who is on top of the game; anybody that is thinking he can unseat him alone, must be living in fool paradise.

“There must be a form of collaboration, and PDP has a structure in every ward, local government and in all states. Other opposition parties can come to us for such alliance.

“It’s normal. There’s nothing bad in it. Nobody is saying swallow this party or that. It happened in 1999. We have to be realistic.

“Everywhere in the world, the incumbent has so many advantages. If people are deceiving themselves. I’m a realist. You can’t say an incumbent in a way does not have some advantages over the opposition.

“So, for you to effectively mobilise and compete in a way that you can make an impact, then you know that you have to work with others.

“It’s a good thing if the opposition parties can work together. PDP is open to that. We are not saying, we are too big,” Aisida told NAN.

The PDP chairman noted that it would have been a smooth ride for the party in the 2023 presidential election had it formed alliance with other opposition parties.

Aisida urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to give all political players fair dealings so that people would have confidence and trust in the commission.

According to him, if there are free and fair elections, there will be no need for litigations nor any call for protest during or after conduct of election.

He stated that well acceptable elections by populace would produce strong leadership that the nation would be proud of and be ready to support in its policies and programmes.

Aisida, however, cautioned those considering military rule as an alternative, saying that the worst democracy is better than military rule.
