Nigerians Want Jonathan Back In 2027, Says Jerry Gana

Nigerians are determined to have former President Goodluck Jonathan back as president in 2027, a former Information Minister, Prof Jerry Gana has declared.

Gana, who spoke in Minna, Niger State on Sunday, said Jonathan will emerge president on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The former minister said Nigerians are yearning for the return of the former president, describing Jonathan as “a trusted leader with a track record of people-oriented governance.”

Gana, is a member of the PDP Board of Trustees (BoT), asserted that the PDP will offer its 2027 presidential ticket to Jonathan on a platter of gold.

“I can confirm that Goodluck Ebele Jonathan will contest the 2027 presidential election as PDP candidate, and you will vote for him to return as president again,” Prof Gana said.

The former minister, who participated in the Niger State PDP Congress on Sunday, recalled how Jonathan willingly conceded defeat in 2015 and congratulated an opposition candidate even before the election result was officially announced.

According to him, the former president acted in the interest of national unity, saying however, that subsequent administrations after him, have given Nigerians the opportunity to compare his leadership with that of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

“Nigerians have seen the difference, and the difference is very clear. They are now asking us to bring back our friend, former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan,” he emphasised.

The former minister down played the leadership crisis rocking the PDP, insisting that the party is united and well positioned to win the 2027 presidential election.

“When there was a near crisis, the founding fathers convened a consultative conference in Abuja and addressed all the issues at that time. PDP is truly grassroots and democratic. That is why the people still love the party,” he said.

Gana slammed successive APC administrations for what he described as their poor handling of the economy.

According to him, the various policies put in place by the present APC administration have continued to discourage local and foreign investments.

“This government has allowed evil gatekeepers to keep away foreign investors. That is their major problem. Nigeria is the best place to grow your money if the right policies are in place,” Prof Gana said.
